Rare Patek Philippe Ref.715J Black Dial "GÜBELIN" Signature Pocket Watch
The ref. 715 was launched in 1942, an alternative to the classic open face ref. 651, with flatter case, a more modern “bell” shape bow and winding crown guards. It was popular and produced until the mid 1970s mostly in yellow or in pink gold. Ref. 715 & ref. 652 were used as base pieces to bear back cover decorations, one of Patek specialties. Each of them was unique and bear a specific reference, like 715-2, 715-3, 652-4 etc.
About 20 yellow gold and 15 pink gold watches were identified from the auction market, and about 30 variations with miniature enamel cases were made from which 14 were identified from the market or catalogues.
This is the only known now with black dial and Gübelin personalisation.
An Extract of Archives dated 2020 confirms that the watch was made in 1940, sold in 1940 with black dial and raised gold hour-markers.
