We find this Calatrava very rare largely because of the 4 over-hanging lugs, which isn’t really a Patek Philippe identity in the 1950s and secondly, it’s availability in the market. This Patek Philippe is the result of post-war commercial competition, fueled by the raging consumerism. Every now and then you probably chance upon some vintage models looking just like one another with the exception of the brand and price but the distinction lies within.  We love the even patina on the dial and the unpolished and well-maintained lugs and case on this vintage piece. Given it’s rarity, this piece is a collectible. It is also worth mentioning that the fine, black line running through the hour markers further amplifies the minimalist feature in a Calatrava, and the missing minute tracks or perle ring is also a unique detail that sets this piece apart from the other Calatravas.
